How to Do Magic Tricks With Coins

So, you're interested in learning how to do magic tricks with coins? Great! Welcome to the world of coin magic!

Beware - magic tricks with coins are more complex than other magic tricks. They involve sleight of hand and misdirection, so you should practice in front of a mirror until you can even fool yourself. At that point, you know you'll be able to mystify your audience.

It's always good to master your first trick to build the confidence you need to learn more. If you want to learn how to do magic tricks with coins, you'll want to start with something simple. Here's a trick that involves a coin and a salt (or pepper) shaker. You must be sitting down at a table to do this trick. A restaurant is a great place to perform this one.

Tell your audience that you will make a coin disappear by rubbing it with a salt shaker.
Put a napkin over the salt shaker and place your hands over the napkin.
Put the salt shaker, covered with the napkin, on top of a nickel.
Move the it around in circles and say something like "abracadabra, abracazoom, make the nickel leave this room!"
Pick up the napkin and shaker and act disappointed when you still see the nickel lying on the table.
Holding the napkin and salt shaker away from the table, allow the shaker to fall onto your lap. The napkin should still maintain the shape of the shaker. (Practice this!)
Tell the audience you're going to try that again.
Keeping your hand over the napkin in its shaker mold, repeat your patter "abracadabra, abracazoom, make the nickel leave this room!"
Push down on the napkin to flatten it on the table. It will look like the salt shaker has gone through the table.

Your audience will be amazed!

Once you get the hang of it, learning how to do magic tricks with coins is not difficult. Add four or five coin tricks to your repertoire and you can put on a first-class performance for friends, family, or co-workers.

Magic is an art; it can be performed in many ways; a trick has cause and effect; and, although it requires at least some practice, you can start performing very quickly.
